This is a quick digital painting I did of a photo I took in St. Kitts.
On one side of the road is the Atlantic Ocean, on the other side is the Carribbean.

Dragon Rider – Digital Painting Process
A quick iPad sketch using the Procreate app.
You can do a lot more in the app, I just didn’t get that far before sending it to the desktop.
- Value drawing done with pencil and conte in Corel Painter.
I later took it into Photoshop to play with the curves a bit.
- In Photoshop, I changed the tone
to a reddish brown to warm it up and help unify the color.
- For the color study, I found a color combination I liked in Adobe Kuler and played around with that,
overlaying the value drawing in Photoshop. It was way too bright, so I tried lowering
the opacity of the color layer and liked the results. Now on to the final color…
